A life changing experience: OFC Inspire

Adam Godwin is an Assistant Farm Manager and participated in the 2026 OFC Inspire Programme. He shares his reflections on the programme, and why it has been the highlight of his career to date.

My experience of the OFC is one that I really struggle to find the words to explain how, truly, career and life changing the whole experience has been. From our initial 2-day meet back in December 2025 at the Farmers Club in London, where we were exposed to some remarkable landmarks and influential people, none more so than the two OFC directors assigned to the Inspire programme to the partner representatives from BASF and TIAH and my incredible 14 other Inspire alumni, it really was something very special.  

The OFC itself felt like another world experience being set in the stunning buildings of Oxford Examination School, Oxford Union and Christchurch College. Immersing yourself into the programme meant the three days passed in a blink of an eye.  

The conference was filled with conversations and sessions with industry leaders, politicians, policy makers, innovators and fellow farmers. Being able to connect with such people has given me access to opportunities that I otherwise wouldn't have been able to be part of. The experience also grew my confidence, opened my mind to new ideas and ways of thinking and showed me the value of conversations and listening.  

From the very first moments of entering the city and stepping off the bus you could feel the buzzing anticipation of what was to come. The room was filled with every emotion throughout the three days. From nerves, excitement, anticipation, trepidation, hope, happiness but noticeably a very big sense, as the conference went on of, optimism!  

Another message also resonated around the conference that we, as an industry, need to start showing the positives to our fantastic industry! Together we are far stronger, louder, and harmonious - the theme of OFC27 - collaborative and resilient!!!

Without a doubt, to date, the OFC Inspire has been the best part of my farming career!
